Andrew I. Schaffer joined Parrett Porto Parese & Colwell as Counsel in February 2021 and is a graduate of the University of Connecticut (BA 1988) and Quinnipiac University School of Law (JD 1994).

Mr. Schaffer limits his practice to divorce and family law matters; representing individuals and children in the Superior Court, Juvenile Court, and Probate Courts throughout the State of Connecticut. Attorney Schaffer has been selected to Super Lawyers for 2011-2012, 2015-2020.

In addition to representing individuals in traditional “adversarial” matters, Mr. Schaffer is a certified divorce mediator having completed the required 40 hours of training. Mr. Schaffer conducts both traditional divorces as well as collaborative divorce mediations.  For those individuals in mediation, Mr. Schaffer also acts as review counsel.

Mr. Schaffer is an active member of the legal community.  He is a member of the CT Bar Association and New Haven County Bar Association where he is the co-chair of the Family Law Section.   Mr. Schaffer serves as Special Master in dissolution matters in various Courts throughout the State of Connecticut, including New Haven and Milford.

Community / Business Affiliations (current and previous)

Mr. Schaffer is an active participant in the local community.  He has served on various Boards including Life Haven, a homeless shelter for women and children; New Haven Legal Assistance and the Tweed-New Haven Airport Authority.   He served for five years on the Board of Directors of the Woodbridge Club, Inc., including acting as President.  

 

Currently, Mr. Schaffer serves on the Board of Assessment Appeals for the Town of Woodbridge.

Mr. Schaffer grew up in Woodbridge CT and continues to reside there with his wife and two daughters.
