William S. Colwell, Hamden Attorney
William S.
Colwell was born and raised in Hamden, Connecticut. After attending
Hamden Public Schools, he graduated from Deerfield Academy,
Deerfield, Massachusetts. He attended Franklin College in Lugano,
Switzerland and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from
Colgate University, Hamilton, New York, in 1973. In 1976, Mr.
Colwell graduated from New England School of Law in Boston,
Massachusetts with a Juris Doctor Degree.
Mr. Colwell’s
practice focuses primarily in the probate arena. It includes estate
planning, Will and Trust drafting, elder law, conservatorships and
the probation of decedent’s estates. Mr. Colwell also represents
individuals and companies in their formation, purchase of real
estate (residential and commercial) and acquisition of large assets
or other companies.
Mr. Colwell
started practicing law in the City of New Haven in 1976. He joined
the law firm of Parrett, Porto, Parese & Colwell, P.C. in 1980 and
became a principal of the firm in 1981. The main office of the Law
Firm is at One Hamden Center, 2319 Whitney Avenue, Hamden,
Connecticut. He is a member of the New Haven County and Connecticut
Bar Associations (Member of Estate & Probate Section, and Elder Law
Section). In addition, he is a member of the Connecticut Estate and
Tax Planning Council.

Foundation for Greater New Haven, Inc., President of the Board of
Directors of Clifford Beers Clinic, Inc., and President of the Board
of Directors of the City Missionary Association of New Haven, Inc.
He is Secretary and Member of the Board of Directors of the Lewis G.
Schaeneman, Jr. Foundation, Inc., Secretary and Member of the Board
of Directors of Changing Children’s Live’s, Inc., Secretary and
Member of the Board of Directors of the Robert A. Landino
Foundation, Inc., and on the Advisory Board for Habitat for Humanity
of Greater New Haven.

Colwell is past President of the Quinnipiac Council, Boy Scouts of
America and past member of the Board of Directors of Connecticut
Yankee Council, Boy Scouts of America. He is the past Chairman of
the Cheshire Planning and Zoning Commission, past member of the
Cheshire Inland/Wetlands Commission, past Vice-President of the
Cheshire Jaycee's and past Chairman of the Board of Trustees, First
Congregational Church of Cheshire.
