Before joining the Parrett Porto Parese & Colwell law firm in 1986, Michael Dean Amato obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut. Prior to beginning his practice of law, Michael began his career in public accounting. He also worked in the corporate financial reporting department of a publically traded company. He earned the designation of Certified Public Accountant in Connecticut in 1979.

Since joining Parrett Porto Parese & Colwell, Michael has represented many individuals and businesses in a variety of areas, including business formation and transactions, estate planning, probate and elder law, residential and commercial real estate transactions, and zoning and land use. His clients are mostly individuals and closely held business.

Michael has a strong commitment to the community and has been very active in local government. He has served on the Board of Alderman for the City of Milford both as a member and as the minority leader. He also served on the Boards of Finance for both the City of Milford and the Town of Orange and has acted as chairman for both boards. Michael also was an incorporator and board member for 12345 Kids Count, Inc. in Milford which addresses preschool issues in the City of Milford. Michael is active in the Lauralton Hall Fathers Club and serves as the treasurer of Milford Yacht Club.

His community involvement and extensive experience serve him well as an attorney for the firm, giving him a wealth of resources to draw from when providing counsel to existing and new clients. Michael resides in Orange with his wife and two children.
