PPPCLAW - John W. Colleran

John W. Colleran was born and raised in the New Haven – North Haven area. He graduated from Yale University and from Yale Law School where he was a member of the Yale Law Journal. After service with the U.S. Army in Germany, he returned to New Haven and began the practice of law with a firm that eventually became Garvey, Colleran, Weiner and Lee. He continued the practice at that location until this year when he joined Parrett, Porto, Parese & Colwell, P.C.

Mr. Colleran serves as General Counsel to Connex Credit Union, a statewide credit union formerly known as New Haven Telephone Employees Credit Union and which has grown to include 34,000 members. As a result, he handles all mortgage refinancing for the individual members as well as many other matters. In addition to that, his general practice focuses on real estate (residential and commercial), corporate and business transactions and zoning activity. His clients include many local corporations and businesses, as well as numerous individuals. He is an authorized representative for various title insurance companies.

Mr. Colleran has participated in many community organizations and for many years has presided as Moderator of the North Haven Town meetings. He is extremely active in Yale Alumni functions.

He resides in North Haven with his wife Winifred Brandt Colleran. They have four sons, David, Timothy, Matthew and Kevin.
