Biography


William S. Colwell was born and raised in Hamden, Connecticut. He attended Colgate University in 1973 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, and later earned his Juris Doctor from the New England School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts in 1976.

William started practicing law in New Haven in 1976. He joined the law firm of Parrett Porto and Parese in 1980 and became a principal of the firm in 1981. He is a member of the New Haven County and Connecticut Bar Associations (Member of the Estate & Probate Section, and Elder Law Section). In addition, he is a member of the Connecticut Estate and Tax Planning Council and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (Connecticut Chapter).

William’s practice focuses primarily on the probate arena and includes estate planning, will and trust drafting, elder law, conservatorship, and the probation of the decedent’s estates. He also represents individuals and companies in their formation, purchase of real estate (residential and commercial), and acquisition of large assets or other companies.
